My name is Brent Artman, and I am the creator of these exquisite copper art pieces. My artistic journey began in high school as a meditative escape, where art provided a singular focus for my wandering mind. A pivotal moment occurred during a vacation to Las Vegas when I encountered a street artist working with spray paint, which inspired me to explore new mediums. I soon embraced spray paint and airbrush art while continuing my pencil drawings. During high school, I also completed a brief apprenticeship at an auto body shop, learning collision repair and auto painting—skills that would later prove invaluable in my artwork.

    I pursued a degree in nutrition at Arizona State University, but quickly realized that a career in that field wasn’t my true calling. After high school, I started working at Costco, a job I held for eight years while figuring out my path in life. One day, while browsing the internet, I discovered an art form that captivated me: copper flame painting.

    This newfound passion led me to Skip and Racheal Mathews. Skip, a pioneer of flame painting, has been perfecting his technique for over 40 years, initially honing his skills by flame painting over 15,000 butterflies. Together with his wife Racheal, an art teacher, they created a class on flame painting. I had the privilege of taking their class in 2018, learning the intricate techniques that allow for unparalleled detail in copper flame art. 

    Balancing early morning shifts at Costco with my art, I eventually reached a point where I could fully support myself through my artwork. In July 2021, I left Costco to become a full-time copper flame painter.

    Today, I apply Skip’s techniques to ambitious projects, specializing in pieces for luxury homes. My work will continue to evolve as I explore new artistic directions. I hope one of my creations brings color and joy into your home.
